How to Use a Refractometer

I personally love technology that isn’t digital. There is something so refreshing about tools that are easy to use, need no battery, have no screen. The refractometer is one of those tools.

This is how easy it is:

1) pick a grape

Grapes ready for harvesting

2) smear its juice on the lens and the lens cover

a refractometer, used to measure Brix, or the amount of sugar in the juice from a grape

3) peer through to read the Brix measure, which determines its sugar content
